Art Sunday

Mercatale Still Life (1981) by William Bailey which can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

In looking around my home and wondering what art prints we'd like next (we currently have a small Monet and a larger Van Gogh as well as some other smaller prints), I started thinking about the Contemporary Realism artists. This is a wonderful example of something that I would own. I love the clean lines and the simplicity of the composition. It just speaks to me. It's also nice that his is an artist from my era. Sometimes we overlook the greatness from our era in favor of the masters of times gone.

I thought I'd include a little music from 1980 - this is Rise by Herb Alpert. 1980 was a fun year. I was a sophmore in high school, the music was all over the charts from rock to jazz to remnants of disco to country. Art was definitely the last thing on my mind though. I am fairly certain had I seen this piece I would have wanted it however.

Art Sunday seems odd without 360 - I know it's on multiply and I might go back there later. For now I remain the blogging agorophobic preferring to stay within my partially closed walls and embracing the known vs the unknown.

Have a beautiful Sunday !

Good morning Steph, thanks for posting for Art Sunday, I've given up on 360, I like my new sites and I post Art on them all. That's a lovely work, I too like the contemporary artists, some of them are extremely interesting.
Have a lovely day, hugs.

I vote for posting art - and music - on all sites but I am a music geek :)

Thank you for including me. I know I'm being obstinate about Multiply but I'm enjoying the peace and quiet of blogger.

I believe I'll give in and let our home become the tuscan pleasure it yearns to be. As such the colors of the grape harvest combined with the ambers of Van Gogh uniquely suite it --- as does this work.

Now I just need an unlimited bank account ;)

The lines are indeed clean and crisp-might be nice in the dining room or near the kitchen.

I like to use prints to color and know that the evolution of our home now will no doubt reflect emerging expressions of visual reminders that I will find both comforting and stimulating.

It is very nice here, just writing without the distraction of bells and whistles flashing and blinking, wading through every notation of others' pages. I will visit more often.

Thanks Cris.

Currently I need fewer bells and whistles and more zen. This was a good way to achieve that.

I do miss my friends who have wandered over to multiply but they know where to find me.

Feel free to visit as often as you choose.
